In 1996, an indie film titled The Good Life starring Frank Stallone, Andrew Dice Clay, David Carradine, and Beverly D’Angelo and featuring a cameo by Sylvester Stallone began shooting in Miami. After a tumultuous production that even involved moving the shoot from Miami to Mexico in less than a week, The Good Life made it to completion only to be prevented from release by lawsuits. In some instances, such as with this feature on the cast of The Godfather, I was responsible for rewriting the entire content of the article.

I’ve been fortunate enough to do many interviews and film screenings followed by Q&As about my book, Vera Miles: The Hitchcock Blonde Who Got Away, since its publication in March 2025 by University Press of Kentucky. One aspect of Miles’s story that I did not expect to receive so much feedback about was regarding her birth year, though understandably so, because sources all over the internet inconsistently cite her birth year as 1929 or 1930. I thought I had provided a sufficient explanation in the first chapter of my book as to why Miles was born on August 23, 1930. In this guest post for Classic Movie Hub, I examine the documentation for Miles’ true birth year.
