The Secret History of New York Blues

This article documents the little-known history that New York City played in the development of the Blues, a city not often associated with that musical genre. I first presented a version of this at Hofstra University’s 1935: The Reality and the Promise conference, and it was later published in the initial issue of Artéfact Magazine, a French-Canadian culture magazine.
